about

Last year I spent many days on social media reading the posts of people who have lost loved ones and found comfort in "signs" of their presence from the afterlife. Whether it was a song coming across the radio, a bird watching over their grave, or butterflies lingering in a flower bed; it seemed like a rather interesting coping mechanism that I admittedly sometimes believe. Like a hand reaching from the great beyond, there is unexplained energy and entities all around us. This song is simply about how I hope to be able to reach back and offer a tad bit of comfort when I finally depart. The title of the song/album is named after "Valley View Cemetery" in my hometown of Garden City, KS. Please enjoy "Valley View"

lyrics

When I die, spread my ashes over Valley View (x3)

These are ashes, scattered over gashes,
lit matches, didn't do this on my own,
I learned from Praktis, this little bit of magic
now im possessed by my every word repressed,
i guess that "simple" is my life,
there aint no "Kanye's" in the southwest
birthed my thoughts like mid-wifes,
crisis, call it mid-life, im 30
but I feel the stress thats churning up my insides,
car rides, long nights, I spit my verse of insights,
its suicidal irony, like drano down your windpipe
the pen writes, anthems like im "gaslight",
shed light, my life it grew me lemons,
squeeze the limelight, the spotlight
is shining down, it suits me better
wrote this verse in scarlet letters'
Hester Prynne with paper, pen,
still masculine, complacent friends

When I die (spread my ashes over valley view)
Rip the sky wide open, the sky wide open, the sky wide open

Death within, never really comes with a next of kin,
specimens, cadavers lathered up with ectoplasm
but like "dan" id "rather" exit here,
test my fears, connect with those that shed these tears,
fully clothed are naked eyes, forever til my soul appears
illuminated, drawing breath like its illustrated,
inked and shaded, celebrate my birthdays when Im gone,
this love is not belated, and when I die,
spread my ashes over valley view, carried by the kansas wind,
it takes me where im going to, the afterlife,
Eric Draven's crow in flight, peck those eyes
if they claim to see my ghost, we know theyre blind
(know theyre blind) kaleidoscopes are shaping up,
the colors in the rose bouquets, and even when im gone
i'll send you signs to make you feel okay

When I die (spread my ashes over valley view)
Rip the sky wide open, the sky wide open, the sky wide open

She thinks im deep,
like the grave that I keep
she digs me deeper and deeper
untl they put me to sleep
its time for beddy-bye
close my sullen eyes
time to emphasize
on how to open minds

When I die (spread my ashes over valley view)
Rip the sky wide open, the sky wide open, the sky wide open
